Today is my first six word Saturday post! I’m excited to be a part of it, as I’ve been meaning to for a few weeks but haven’t remembered until now. For more info, click here. Here are my six words:

I’m too tired to work today.

I’ve never in my life been a morning person. No matter how much I try, no matter how much sleep I get or if I go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, I am never happy to be up early in the mornings. I get a lot more accomplished in the afternoon, evening and during the night.

Needless to say, the days don’t work out so well for me when I have to work 7am-3pm. I worked that Friday, and I’m scheduled for it Saturday and Sunday. Yuck, yuck and yuck. I have such a hard time forcing myself to get up. When my alarm goes off at 5 something in the morning, I could cry. And on the days that I am scheduled 7-3, I end up in a vicious cycle of needing a nap when I get home from work. Then I can’t go to bed early and then I’m even more tired the next day. *Sigh* You think there would be some middle ground. That, working in a hospital, I would be able to better prepare myself for early mornings, but I just can’t do it. I struggle with being tired the whole day. I much prefer working 3pm-11pm or even 11pm-7am.

On that note, I suppose I better try to get to bed…since I have to be up in 5 hours. And I’ll likely lay there thinking “hurry up, fall asleep, you have to be up soon!”. Hopefully I will get a few hours of sleep and be a semi-functioning human being when I arrive to work bright and early. I hope you enjoyed my first six word Saturday post!

  1. I think I am not an afternoon person, I am peppy and bubbly in the mornings and get a second wind at night.

  2. My brother is the SAME way. He has so much trouble waking up in the mornings, no matter what. He’s not a morning person. My husband to actually. Hope you got some sleep!

  3. I never was a morning person…and I liked to stay up late at night and so…that’s what I did. BUT, as I have gotten older I have trained myself to go to bed early and to get up early…and I love it! After doing it over and over it just became a “habit”. Of course, since you work in a hospital, and you have varied hours…this probably isn’t gonna work for you in this stage of your life. I think varying shifts like that is probably not good for internal clocks…and it throws them off. Hopefully you will find some things that work for you. Perhaps cutting out caffeine after a certain time of night so you can sleep better…or sugary foods etc. Anyway…best wishes!

    • Hi Linda! Thanks for stopping by! If I do happen to be awake early in the morning and I have to stay awake, then I do enjoy the quiet of the morning to get things done. :) Yes, working in a hospital definitely throws things off. A sleep pattern is just about impossible lol. I have started cutting back caffeine so hopefully that helps.

  4. I’m the same way! I HATE getting up early, and even though I have to get up when Dani gets up at 7:00, it takes me until probably 10 or 11 to actually start cleaning lol. Now Steve will wake up first thing in the morning and start cleaning, I just don’t get it. He was doing the dishes at 8 this morning! (Definitely not complaining about him doing the dishes haha)

  5. Bless you for what you do. Please take care of yourself, too.
